Then Sing My Soul Saturday

God Struck : Connect, Renew, Survive

Coming October 28 – 30 will be a big event to al the young people in the church and to all the campus caregroups. The young ladies with their Femmes for Jesus group ( F4J) and the young men with their Band of Brothers ( Bob) will hold a three-day youth camp entitles “ God’s Struck : Connect, Renew and Survive. We are now on our third phase in planning for that big day. Tarpaulin banners designs are ready , youth  brochure printing is on the way for our camp promotion. The venue is set and the delegates have listed their names. What be more fulfilling is the sense of responsibility we owe to the young people in our city. So that they may discover their potential and use it properly to be more productive in their lives.

Reality bites! Our young people today are affected with moral degradation- pre-marital sex, alcoholism, pornography, rebellion and vices are some societal desease that affects our young people today. By being in the forefront of change , our youth commits their time, talents and resources to influence these young people to love God, their families their studies and their future. May they not be tired in pursuing this noble act for in preserving our generation from moral decay. Congratulations BHCCCI youth for this initiative. Your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

Fraternities In Comparison

I was nearly lured by my classmates to attend an initiation and be a member of a fraternity in our campus. I was on my junior high when this happened. It was difficult for me since I was warned by my parents not to be involved in any fraternity group without their consent. I have a positive idea about “brotherhood” having known several parents of my friends who are members of a fraternity group. But that was different. The time my classmates recruited me to join their group, there was an on-going conflict between them and another fraternity group because of membership issues.

http://www.online-colleges.org/fraternities_infographic

I’m glad that I refused to join them that time because several of the members of their group were arrested due troubles with another fraternity faction. I’ve got to admit that I’m scared at that time since I don’t want my studies to be affected. But I also heard of some good news about the benefits of being in a “brotherhood” since it can help you in your studies and even your work in the future.

The foreign blood in me..

Our forefathers are not really Filipinos. They were the boat people from Indonesia who migrated to the Philippines in early part of 1900.Six years ago, face book was not yet born so looking for your long lost relatives is very difficult. I decided to make a family tree through a website . It was because of this desire that I was introduced to the free platform of blogger. It’s very difficult at first but when I added some relatives to act as my co-administrator, the website was completed. It was fulfilling to see the pictures and profiles of the members of the clan in one website. Although social networking is already here.. we still prefer to chatting and posting pictures in our website.

College Dropout Rates

According to a study of our education trend here in the Philippines, there are many reasons why many college students drop out of college. One of these is the financial incapacity of parents to sustain the education of their children. Poverty looms largely in many provinces here in our place where there is an ongoing conflicts between tribal groups which is a threat to our peace and order. In Mindanao alone where I was born, a few provinces belonged to the poorest of poor in our country. It is here where the number of Out-of-school youths is largely concentrated. Even in the city where I’m living, still a large group of college students won’t make it to graduation due to the high cost of education.

http://www.accredited-online-colleges.org/collegedropoutrates
Sad as it may, this problem is not only prevalent here in our country. The United States, a Super power nation is not exempted with this global problem. Economic pressure, debts, threats to the peace and order, moral degradation, college drop outs, spiritual decline and many more…we all face these dilemmas in our society today. But I’m glad that in spite of the many problems our country, we Filipinos are well known as survivors and we always stand to where we have fallen. We just don’t give up easily.

Home loans rejected

The Stock Market meltdown has put the pinch on all sorts of lending. According to my sister who’s living in Califronia USA home loans are no exception. She added even some who are earning above-average income and who are very well-qualified home buyers are getting turned down for mortgages for no good reasons. This is the reason why my sister is now hesitant to apply for a home loan. She’s in the US for 10 years but until now she’s still renting a pad.

Fun way to auction !

I heard a lot about dealfun.com scam. My curiosity landed me to their site and found out that the auction site is not a scam at all. If only bidding is open to our country, I would surely be one of those who have been crazy bidding their cents for more than a hundred dollar products.

24/7 Mayweather and Ortiz Boxing Fight

As of the moment , I am watching  the 24/7  Mayweather and Ortiz Boxing Fight  at HBO Sports  and can not help but be annoyed  with Floyd Mayweather bragging. He proudly shouted that nobody can beat him .. for 16 years he’s been the champion in the boxing ring  and forever will be. He even burned his money  and argues with his father in front of the TV.

Victor Ortiz on the other hand  remained humble.  The 24 year old  fighter  emotional related his childhood story. Left by his mother at the age of 7 and abandoned by his father at age 9.  The difficulties of life led him to be trained at the gym.

More update on the next post. Got to finish the show first

Different Kinds of Life Insurance

When my mom celebrated her 65th birthday and at the same time hold a farewell party for her retirement after 34 years in public service as a High School Superintendent , we her children gave her a gift she could always remember... a trip to the U.S. She enjoyed her 5 month stay in the land of opportunities and toured with my sister to famous States like California, Florida, Washington and New York.

But more than that, her children bought a Health insurance for her. Now, she’s joining the benefit of the Insurance for 12 years now. It helped the family financially in times of medical consultation and hospital confinement. Me and my wife are planning to get Health and Life Insurance too. We have canvassed different kinds of life insurance but until now we have not decided the right insurance provider for us.

Access Samsung Apps from Samsung Smart TV

A New samsung lcd TV for Christmas! Yes, we desired the 40 inches Smart LCD before the year ends. The new model allows us to easily access apps from Samsung Apps, a growing collection of premium apps built specifically for the Smart TV. It can also connect to our favourite digital content from YouTube, ESPN, Pandora, Facebook, Twitte and many other types of new interactive TV experiences.

We are a family who loves to bond together through watching TV. Every Friday is our Movie Marathon Day. With a bucket of popcorn or a pint of Ice Cream each…we can spend up to 6 hours watching TV. It’s our way to unwind and distress ourselves from our daily routines during weekdays. What better way to maximise our Fun is to have a bigger TV.

My co-owner of everthing I have

A michael kors watch watch for my own? Wow! That would be something I surely love to have this year. My sister called a week ago and asked me what kind of gift I wanted this Christmas. Well, you know what’s in my mind? A signature watch..Though I have 9 other watches at home. I would love to have a new one since my son who’s in the Junior High now is already using some of my watches. Well, that’s reality. When you son grows up? You have to realize that somebody is a co-owner of you things… including your watch.

Shamcey Supsup is the Only Miss Universe 2011 Finalist to Answer the Final Question Without an Interpreter

Shamcey Supsup is the Only Miss Universe 2011 Finalist to Answer the Final Question Without an Interpreter. Yes! I found her answer direct and honest.

American actress Vivica Fox asked Shamcey Supsup, “Would you change your religious beliefs to marry the person that you love? Why or why not?”

Supsup answered, “If I would have to change my religious beliefs, I would not marry the person that I love. Because the first person that I love is God, who created me. I  have my faith and my principles, and this is what makes me who I am. If the person loves me, he’ll love my God, too,” she added.

Her answer reveal her true self.  She's just being honest...

If you were in her shoes.. What will be your answer?

BANKRUPTCY : The moment of truth

The memory was still fresh. When my dad’s working habit took its toll on his health, we were all devastated. At the age of 49, my dad and my mom still have many dreams for the family. With a flourishing furniture business, a stable job for my mom as a school principal, who could have thought that our dad would succumbed to a heart ailment. Yes, he had a hard time when he was a young boy working errands and odd jobs to make ends meet. He occasionally drinks but do not smoke. But why suffer a heart failure at such a young age? This has been my question that needs to be answered.

My dad was advised to go to Manila for an extensive medical treatment. The one year he spent for treatment and rehabilitation and the mounting medical bills affected us in a way we could never imagine. My mom has to sell almost all our properties that we nearly went bankrupt. It was really a hard time for my mom and us. I even remembered that we have to eat once a day in order for us to save what little we have. I and my two sisters were left under the care of an uncle but we were not given that much care and attention. If there was somebody who could guide my mom on what to do in times like that then I know it would not be so hard for her to manage our finances. Just like the Cary Bankruptcy Lawyers I read in the net. What difference could they have given us at the moment of our financial crisis? My mom would not even suffer depression at that time if she could have somebody to help her in times of need.

The Bridge Master

My Campus Values Teaching today was a tearful one. I let my 4th year class see the Video clippings “ The Bridge Master” and most of them can not help but cry. It’s such a powerful illustration of the Power of Love. The Bridge Master sacrificed his only son to die to save the lives of the many who were inside the train. The video ended with the message of GOD’s Love .. that He gave His only son to die on the cross of the redemption of mankind.

The Gospel was made clear through the video and thank God for many received Jesus as their personal Lord and Saviour.

Thankful Thursday

My son failed in His Trigonometry Exam. What’s there to be thankful of???

Yes! I am thankful for the way he’s being honest with his feelings. It’s so touching to see your son expressing his worries and fears without being condemned and judged. Our heart-to-heart talk went well. I thank God for the knowledge and wisdom as quoted His promises. I know God allowed it for a purpose. It’s not yet the end of his academic scholarship. It’s still the first grading exam… I know God will work out in the 2nd, 3rd and final exam. Amen and Amen!

Saving Lives Through Heart Surgery

What happened to my dad after he was diagnosed with a heart condition really affected our family. He’s a hard worker and takes care of his family well. I can say that my dad was an ideal father. We love him for all the values he taught us, especially the value of loving your family and working hard to reach your goals in life. At the age of 12, because of poverty, my dad decided to leave their home to continue his studies and pursue his dream to become an accountant. He worked as a house helper, a shoe-shine boy, a newspaper boy and even washed dishes to earn a living. It was a hard life for a young boy but he was one determined individual. His sacrifices paid off. After graduating with honors in a well known university in Manila and passing the bar exam for accountants, my dad was hired as an accountant for a government office and was assigned in Mindanao where he met our mom. That was a dream comes true!

But there was a setback to all the hardships my dad went through. Because of hard work, he was diagnosed with a heart condition at the young age of 45. There was even a point where we feared that we already lost him when he had a heart attack. All the doctors decided for my dad to be transferred back to Manila for a Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery which was not yet available in our place at that time. That was the lowest and saddest part of our life. Our family has to sell almost all of our properties to pay the high cost of medical bills. Our dear dad spent a year in the hospital for treatment and we nearly went bankrupt. But even with that, we did not lose hope but instead put our faith in God whom we believe to be always with us. That medical procedure saved the life of our dad. He survived that ordeal and lived to be with us until his 59th birthday.

Go Organic

My mom is  the Health Ministry Head in the church. She always has a time to lecture us about using organic vegetables and meat and include it in our diet. She’s now 74 years old and still on active duty as a School Administrator in a Korean international school. Yea, I really, believe on the many good benefits of eating organic food. Today, our society is flooded with foods that are not healthy at all due to chemicals added to poultry and meat products. From homes to restaurant and fast food chains our children are exposed to unhealthy food. Even our government is also pushing for the use of organic produce in the market today. The billions of consumers worldwide pushed the meat industry to produce bigger poultry and farm yield using chemicals that threatens one’s health.

How I wish an Organic Meat Delivery will be available here in our place. I would really appreciate it. We would also revolutionize our eating habit at home. When one of our church friends died due to cancer, there was a profound effect to each one of us as her husband related to us the ill effects non-organic food to our diet. It was one of the main things their doctor stressed that affected the health of her wife. Now that maybe is one important lesson for us to really, really consider organic food this time.

SEO Website Design

I am thinking of bringing my blogging career to a higher level so I am planning to learn about Search Engine Optimization. A local IT school is offering a training course for six month at 12 hours per week . I heard about SEO Website Design and I am very interested to know more about it. One thing that's hindering me to enroll this year is the budget. Tuition fee is a bit high and I do not have the budget as of the moment. My wife said that  the training can be found online for Free. Do you have any link for the site?

Growing Pains

My daughter always complains of pains in her legs, feet and hands. We already brought her to the doctor 2 years ago but the doctor said that it’s part of his growing years and that her being overweight added to the pain. She’s now 11 years old but is still complaining of the same pain at least once a week. She’s no longer overweight because she’s now conscious with her looks being an adolescent… but why is it she’s still complaining with occasional pain? She’s taking Vitamin B1,B6,B12 and calcium as part of her supplement for two months now. I hope and pray this will help …

October : Opal Birth Stone

I and our son were born in the month of May and our birthstone is Emerald. My wife’s birthstone is Ruby as she was born in July. Our daughter’s birthstone is diamond for the month of April. My mom and my elder sister’s birthstone is Amethyst since they were both born in February. My dad was born on October and his birthstone is Opal . The same with my niece who’s graduating in High School next year. It would then be a great idea for us to give her an opal birth stone jewelry as our graduation gift for her. A necklace with Opal Stone pendant would be perfect.
