PREACHING : Being Empowered

“…that he would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, that ye may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man;
17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,18 may be strong to apprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, of the love of Christ.”

Meaning: give (someone) the authority or power to do something. To equip or supply with an ability; enable

PROPOSITION: What does God’s word say about empowerment? What is the truth about being empowered? First is that…

From the beginning of time, when God created man, He gave him the authority to rule, to govern, to manage and be stewards of all His creation. He literally encouraged man to use that authority to do what He plans for him to live the best of life according to His will. He blessed man and said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue (discipline) it, and have dominion (power and authority) over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. 30 And to every beast of the earth and to every bird of the heavens and to everything that creeps on the earth, everything that has the breath of life, I have given every green plant for food.” And it was so. 31 And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good…” Genesis 1: 28-31
Until today that authority given to man still holds true to all who believe and serve God. He empowered and strengthened us to obey His commands. This empowerment/authority must be in lined with God’s will so our lives will enjoy the fruit of God’s favor and blessings. He taught us to regulate, and administer authority so it will properly function and benefit others. From the verse I just read, it is also important for us to remember, with the power and authority God gave us; He also gave us a great responsibility to fulfill. As uncle Ben told Peter Parker of the Spider Man movie, “With great power, comes great responsibility.” A Responsibility to manage well (with emphasis), the resources entrusted to us with discipline, self control and righteous intentions. Bright Rock School, the Officials, the teachers, faculty and staff, the students and the parents, we all have a great responsibility as God’s stewards to use and handle God’s resources and blessings, God’s way.

2.    MAN IS EMPOWERED TO INSPIRE… Vs.18 “…may be strong and apprehend with all the saints…”
God has not only empower us to manage well His resources but also to INSPIRE (motivate, arouse, instigate, and stir) others to follow the right path of obeying God’s commands. Let us grab every moment given to us to inspire other people to understand the will of God, to follow and obey His word, to understand how wide, how long and high and how deep God’s love for every one of us. God’s love for us should inspire us to love God and inspire others. God showed and demonstrated His love so we could also demonstrate this love to others. Inspire others to be grateful to God no matter how small it may be. For some of God’s greatest miracles are found in small things. Inspire others to trust and love God above all else for He alone is the Source of all our need. Inspire others to fear God and keep His commands for this is the whole duty of man. Let me share some of these famous quotes of today about being an inspiration…

Let our actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more.” (John Quincy Adams) Let us not be like “a mediocre teacher who tells. A good teacher who explains. A superior teacher who demonstrates. But we should be like The great teacher who inspires.” – (William Arthur Ward) People will forget what we said, people will forget what we did to them, but people will never forget how we made them feel.” (Maya Angelou) With what is happening to our nation today, with the thousands of our fellow kababayans suffering from hunger, thirst, nakedness and loss of love ones and property, a small good deed to inspire them will go a long, long way to inspire others to follow our example. Small as we are here in this place, but I will never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can make a change in our world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” – (Margaret Mead) We just don’t know how many lives will be saved if we inspire others today. LET US GRAB THIS MOMENT AND INSPIRE OTHERS…

Jesus was and still is our greatest example when it comes to serving. Mark 10:45 states “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” We are what we are today because Jesus was not ashamed in serving His love for us by giving His life for us. Serving is such an important part of what life is about. Upon seeing a dying man lying on the street after being robbed, The first question which the priest and the Levite asked was: “If I stop to help this man, what will happen to me?” But the good Samaritan reversed the question: “If I do not stop to help this man, what will happen to him?” Let us then be that Good Samaritan. There are many people outside this place that needs our service. That needs our attention that needs our concern and our action. Let us be God’s instrument so that His love be real to those who need it. Let us not love in words only but also in deed.

As U.S. President George Bush said, “From now on, any definition of a successful life must include serving others.” For the “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson PAY IT FORWARD

Today, as Bright Rock School celebrates 16 years of God’s faithfulness, may you not only count the years of your existence but remember the impact this school has made in the lives of the students, the faculty and staff, the teachers, the parents and the community and heartfully thank God. Be thankful for the responsibility God placed upon your shoulder to mould young minds to be productive citizens of our country. Offer everything to God in prayer

Philippians 4:6-7 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

A great deal of stress is the direct result of shouldering the burdens of life without turning to The Lord in prayer.  We have access to "the peace of God" when we release our burdens to The Lord.

1 Peter 5:7    ...casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.

When we fail to release our problems and cares to Christ, we begin to experience increasing tension, anxiety, and fear.  Prayer is one of the most powerful remedies for stress.

5.  Trust In God's Word.

Romans 15:4  For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.

The promises and counsel of scripture provides us with a rich storehouse of stress-relieving comfort and peace.  Stress often results from failing to stand upon the absolute reality of God's Word, in spite of our circumstances.

When we confront life's problems, dilemmas, and uncertainties with the reality of God's Word, we can effectively overcome a great deal of stress we suffer.

6.  Fellowship With One Another.

Romans 15:32  that I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and may be refreshed together with you.

2 Corinthians 7:13 Therefore we have been comforted in your comfort. And we rejoiced exceedingly more for the joy of Titus, because his spirit has been refreshed by you all.

Fellowship can often provide a potent remedy for stress.  Studies have proven that interaction with loved ones and friends helps relieve the pressures of stress.

Those who isolate themselves and withdraw from people and relationships suffer a greater degree of stress-related problems.  Companionship with others provides access to warmth, love, understanding, comfort, counsel, and encouragement.

Electronic dog fence : A friendly containment

Do you have a dog that loves to walk away from your house when left alone? A dog that is restless and enjoy running around in wide-open areas ? Or dogs that are expert in escaping from your fence ? Then you need a modern electronic dog fence, that works effectively and is very easy to use. Animal rights advocates say this is not a humane treatment but most of the people I’ve asked explained that technology has been refined to be completely dog friendly. One can set the shock level with the shock setting on the collar. You can also test the collar yourselves to ensure that your dog is not going to get hurt. According to wireless dog fence reviews, this shock is more surprising than painful. Installation is easy with the electronic dog fence. All you have to do is establish a proper perimeter for your dog to stay in, and a professional company will take care of the rest.

We Must See Things From God's Perspective

Life is filled with a wide variety of circumstances. Some situations are positive, some are negative. However, the circumstances we encounter, regardless of the nature, often produce feelings of stress. This is especially true of the adverse situations which suddenly affect or alter the course of our lives. Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

The talk box is here again!

It is a very unusual and unique extra gadget used by guitarist. We seldom see talk boxes in the previous years but lately it was revived by the music industry. Talk boxes has been around since the 1940’s, and were made particularly popular by various bands of the 40’s up to the 60’a. It is a device which connects to the amplifier, with a tube running from a speaker to the guitarist’s own mouth. By changing the shape of the mouth, closing and widening and changing the air pressure inside, the sound and tone of the guitar can be affected considerably. It also referred to as the “talking steel guitars”. Multi-asking is the norm these days, that is why it is getting popular again. If you wish to try it ? You can save on talk box at musicians friend

God will ask you to do something hard

People have a hard time understanding why a “loving God” gives us hard things to do.  We don’t really want a God; we want a super powerful Santa Claus.  But taking an easy path in life isn’t always the best way to go about living.  I think God knows this.  He knows that sometimes the most growth happens when we have to struggle.  He knows that some people will be held in bondage unless we act.  He knows that evil won’t stop, just because we don’t want to get involved.
Sometimes the only way to advance the Kingdom is to push.
The more I struggle to understand what it means to be a parent, the more I realize just what God goes through.  When I look at my own parents I realize they held me to high expectations, not because they were being “controlling” or “demanding” but because they knew I had more potential in me then even I realized.

We don’t really want a God; we want a super powerful Santa Claus.
It’s the same with God.  He knows how much we can grow.  How much we can handle.  And sometimes to bring out our full potential, we need to work really hard.

There are things more important to God than giving us an easy life.
This is clearly seen in the Bible.  God has always been more interested in our relationship with him than in our sacrifices (for Jews) or following a bunch of rules (for Christians).  But we can’t seem to get that through our heads.  We keep trying “harder” to please God, when that misses the whole point.

When God gives us something hard to do (like telling Hosea to marry a prostitute) we change not just ourselves, but the world.
You can’t find a story in the Bible where something amazing wasn’t experienced when hard tasks were done.  You can’t find a friend who has been obedient to God, who hasn’t grown.  You can’t find lives changed when we, as Christians, do the hard thing.

What else can you make that claim about?
So when God comes to you and says, “I have something hard for you to do.”  Don’t fight him.  Instead, say, “how can I do it?”  And then go and do it.

Loving Music

I really, really love music. When my wife asked me to download instrumental music for relaxation I chose the enchanting classical guitar with its rich, soothing and very relaxing sound. Both of us even would play classical guitar musical pieces every time we go to sleep. I am a fan of guitar playing and I have one for my son, my daughter and myself. We often would spend our time together singing songs accompanied by our guitars. My son plays the lead guitar in our worship band and I play the rhythm. One thing that’s important is a good guitar pick up like the fishman rare earth pro rep 102 .I would have that soon!

There are things more important to God than giving us an easy life. This is clearly seen in the Bible. God has always been more interested in our relationship with him than in our sacrifices (for Jews) or following a bunch of rules (for Christians). But we can’t seem to get that through our heads. My Takamine G128s

I’m teaching values in different campuses in our city and at the same time teaching Bible studies in offices too. One group that I am teaching weekly belongs to an Appliance store. It’s one of the popular stores in our city selling items from kitchen wares, television sets, and living room showcases to musical instruments. There was a time when our Bible study group decided to learn new church songs and I have to have my own guitar. I browsed for guitars that are for sale and my sister who works in the U.S. told me to look for takamine g128s as it would be the perfect one for my taste. I hope and pray I will have this kind of guitar someday.
