I will be attending a seminar tomorrow entitled " Ministry in Disaster Setting". This seminar is primarily for pastors and church workers who will be involved in ministering to victims of disasters and traumatic situations.  Our country has been struck with various calamities since 2011 like flash floods, earthquake and civil war. The recent typhoon Yolanda ( international name - Haiyan )  was considered the biggest typhoon in the history of mankind. Hundred Thousand of families were misplace and more than Thirty Thousand of lives were claimed. I have been to the greatly hit areas in Ormoc City and Tacloban City   last Dec 8-15 , 2013 and at Guaian , Samar last January and realized than aside from meeting the physical needs of the people like giving relief goods, they need more the prayer ministry in helping people recover.

The need to work together with doctors , counselors and other health professions is vital as each has a role to play. This training is so timely as it will talk about  the spiritual aspect of wholeness. The  area that is usually neglected in disaster situations.
