Longest Christmas Celebration

The “BER” months here in the Philippines is quite an exciting time for all of us. Filipinos are known to have the longest Christmas celebration. You can hear Christmas carols as early as the first day of September. And these months too will also be part of our cold, rainy season. You can expect people wearing warmers and jackets during nighttime. My friend in New York misses these times here. There in New York during winter time, you can expect to see people wearing heated winter jackets, gloves and even heated electric blanket. My friend told me that they even have a -20 degree Fahrenheit below freezing point. Wow, that’s really, really cold!

Early preparation for Christmas?

As early as now my wife is collecting Cardboard Boxes for the Christmas. She will use them for the shoe box gift giving of our church this December. Last year, we spent a lot og money buying boxes for the hundreds of gifts given to the street children.  I guess, I need to tell other young people to collect boxes too.

Say " I love you " this Christmas

FLOWERS say I love you. It is as simple as that… This Christmas aside from surprising my wife with the gift she had been dreaming of after her birthday last July, I would love to give her a mixed bouquets of her favorite flowers . I would love to end this year reminding her how much I cherish and love her. I know she will be surprise since I usually send flowers during birthdays and anniversaries…. that if she will not be able to read this blog post! I hope so since she’s busy doing her Christmas shopping .

All my Mom want for Christmas

Wrinkles! This would send my mom (she’s now 73 years old) to her favorite beauty parlor for a facial makeover. She would then spend a big amount of money to have that diamond peel to reduce wrinkles.

Imagining myself waiting for four to five hours just for my mom to completely rejuvenated, hehehe. We’ll, I have decided to search for the real stuff on combating wrinkles.

All I want for Christmas is not my two from teeth ( hahahahaha) but to buy the best anti wrinkle creams for my mom. I guess it would bring smile to her face and at least reduce those wrinkles. LOL!

The Coldness of Christmas

“Aaahhhh....it’s cold!” this is what my little girl complained one night as we entered the month of December. Yes, it’s the cold month of the year in this area of the world where we only have two seasons, dry and wet seasons, the hot and the cold season. But every December, the humidity rises due to the cold from from the west and we get that cold weather of Christmas.

Along with the cold weather, many people catch the cold virus too. The Department of Health always would remind us then to be extra careful so as not to get caught by it. Stay dry and warm and as much as possible buy a dehumidifier for your home.

Save The Date Cards!

It’s Christmas time! That’s what I heard from a commercial about a certain brand of food. It also reminds me of this exciting time of the year where one has to think of buying gifts in advance. Mall sales are everywhere and my wife is starting to get busy in buying gift items for our family and our love ones. And as for me? Well, I’m thinking of making a unique Christmas card for all of them and put a very personal touch to it. I would write a sweet and touching message from my heart.

And not only during Christmas season that I’m doing this. I love writing and I’ve been doing it for my wife too. Special or no occasions, personal cards with a personal message is still the best for me. And I’m thinking of those save the date cards I’ve read through the net. The idea is great and I’d love to do it for my love one too.

Christmas spells JESUS LOVES YOU!

“People making lists, buing special gifts...It’s the time of year when good friends are here...” those words from a very popular Christmas song by Michael Jackson always bring nostalgia to me whenever I hear it. Yes, Christmas is around the corner. Here in our place, whenever we arrive on the calendar months that ends with “ber”, you can already hear Christmas songs and jingles played in radio stations, department stores, and TV ads. The “ber” months here as we commonly called it, signifies the start of the Christmas season. And people here are literally making lists and buying special gifts as early as the month of October! LOL! My mother, my dear mom, always see to it that she can buy gifts for all her friends as early as this month. Last week, we accompanied her in buying gifts for her co-workers. She wants to avoid the Christmas rush and last minutes buys that usually happens to many.

As for our family, we have already started to make a list and little by little scouted for items or gifts to buy for our love ones, relatives, “inaanaks”, and friends too. For those living far away, we would prefer to give them Holiday Cards with thoughts of love and of course a picture of baby Jesus to remind our friends the real meaning of Christmas. Yes gifts can add joy and excitement but there’s no greater meaning and significanc of Christmas than the Love of God to humankind and because of this, He gave His Only begotten Son. Christmas spells – J-E-S-U-S L-O-V-E-S Y-O-U!

The Reason for the Season!

I miss the blogosphere. I have been busy lately with my works. Got lots of speaking engagement here and there... Glory to God. The Campus Ministry is soaring high. Last week , I was able to share the Topic “ Jesus is the Reason for the Season” to 3 Unviersities here in our city. By God’s help, their hearts and minds were opened on the true meaning of Christmas – that is JESUS THE SON OF GOD CAME HERE ON EARTH TO BECOME THE SON OF MAN.... SO THAT WE THE SON OF MAN WILL BECOME THE SONS OF GOD!
